The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has directed its structures nationwide to shift from political campaigning to economic mobilisation, with National Treasurer Barbara Nekesa Oundo ordering party leaders to focus on supporting government development programmes and monitoring the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM).
Addressing district, sub-county and parish chairpersons at the NRM headquarters in Kampala, Nekesa said the election period was over and party structures must now concentrate on driving socio-economic transformation.
"Political mobilisation is over. We must now turn to economic mobilisation to provide sustainable support for our government," Nekesa said.
She instructed parish chairpersons to compile and submit reports on the performance of the PDM in their respective areas to constituency chairpersons and NRM district offices for further action.

Nekesa also directed parish leaders to prepare detailed reports on the status of village LC1 flag bearers and submit them to district party offices as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots structures.
She urged party officials to support newly sworn-in Members of Parliament, saying effective service delivery would enhance both public confidence and the party's electoral prospects.
"Support your just sworn-in MPs to serve the people better. This will give them and the party an opportunity to be re-elected in 2031," she said.
The directives are expected to be implemented across NRM structures nationwide, with increased attention on PDM performance and grassroots leadership as the ruling party embarks on its post-election agenda.
