Angola: President João Lourenço Expresses Condolences for the Passing of Manuel Augusto

Luanda — Angolan President João Lourenço expressed his deepest condolences on Friday to the family, friends, and colleagues of the politician Manuel Augusto, who passed away today in Luanda.

According to a note from the Presidential Support Services, which ANGOP had access to, the Head of State learned with the deepest sorrow of the passing of Manuel Domingos Augusto, a prominent figure in national political life, diplomacy, and journalism.

It adds that "Angola has lost a son who dedicated the best of his time and life to defending the superior interests of the People, having held relevant positions in the State apparatus, notably in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."

"He prematurely leaves us a figure suited for the highest and most refined performance in the fulfillment of duty, who still had much to give as a public servant, statesman, and staunch patriot," the document also states.

To his family, friends, and colleagues, "I express my deepest condolences, hoping that they will overcome this difficult moment with courage." SC/DOJ
