Uganda: Three Held Over Murder of 51-Year-Old Man in Rukungiri

Police in Rukungiri District are holding three suspects over the murder of a 51-year-old man at Kimbugu Village, Nyabushenyi Parish in Nyarushanje Sub-county.

The deceased has been identified as Richard Tumuheki.

According to Kigezi regional police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, the incident occurred at around 1:00am on Monday at a drinking spot in the area.

He said the suspects were arrested after the victim's body was discovered lying in a pool of blood shortly after he had left the drinking place together with them.

The arrested suspects are Cleophas Kamigisha, 30, Allan Kabagambe, 20, and Sophia Kyampire, 35, all residents of the same area.

Police say a homicide team from Rukungiri Central Police Station processed the scene before the body was taken to Rwakabengo Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.

Tumushime said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the murder are ongoing.

Authorities have not yet established the motive behind the killing.
