Uganda: Wakiso Boda Rider Arrested Over Defilement of 13-Year-Old Stepdaughter

Police at Kasangati Central Police Station are holding a suspect in connection with the aggravated defilement of his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the suspect, a boda boda rider and resident of Lutete Village, Kumunana Zone, Nangabo Parish, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District, defiled the victim repeatedly between ages 12 and 13, after chasing her from home.

Police said their investigations found that the victim's mother died when she was six years old.

She was then taken in by her stepfather.

"Police received information about the incident and responded accordingly. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue," SP Kawala said.

Police said the case is being handled as aggravated defilement and that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure justice for the victim.

"We strongly condemn all forms of violence and violations of children's rights and urge members of the public to promptly report any suspected cases to the relevant authorities to ensure timely intervention and protection of children," SP Kawala added.
