Speke Resort Convention Centre has been formally admitted as a Convention Centre Partner of the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers, a development officials say strengthens Uganda's standing as a destination capable of hosting major international conferences, exhibitions and business events.
The partnership, announced this week, gives the Munyonyo based facility direct access to a global network of congress organisers, meeting planners and association executives responsible for selecting venues for some of the world's largest gatherings. Industry figures describe IAPCO membership as a recognised marker of professionalism within the international meetings sector, one expected to raise the venue's visibility among event organisers scouting locations across Africa.
The new affiliation adds to Speke Resort Convention Centre's existing memberships with the International Congress and Convention Association and the International Association of Convention Centres, further embedding the Munyonyo complex within established global meetings networks.

Sitting on the shores of Lake Victoria, the centre remains Uganda's largest integrated meetings and hospitality facility, offering 34 conference and exhibition venues, more than 10,000 square metres of indoor meeting space and 476 guestrooms and suites, alongside the flagship Rwenzori Convention Centre. The venue has previously hosted large scale gatherings including the 19th Non Aligned Movement Summit, the G77 plus China Third South Summit and the African Airlines Association's annual general assembly, experience officials cite as evidence of its capacity to manage complex international events.
Beyond enhanced visibility, the IAPCO partnership is expected to give the centre access to professional development resources, global best practices and networking platforms aimed at further improving service standards. Officials at the resort describe the move as part of a longer term strategy to position the venue as East Africa's leading convention destination, with the broader goal of drawing more international visitors and boosting Uganda's growing conference tourism sector.
