Rwanda: Reg VC Court Middle Blocker Tuyizere

Kepler VC middle blocker Jean Baptiste Tuyizere is reportedly in talks with Rwanda Energy Group (REG) over a possible return to the club ahead of the 2026/27 Rwanda National Volleyball League season.

The 28-year-old would be returning to familiar territory, having previously represented REG VC before joining Kepler VC in 2023.

With the transfer window now open ahead of the new season, which is expected to begin in early October, a source close to REG VC told Times Sport that the experienced middle blocker is in advanced discussions with the defending champions, who are coached by Ugandan tactician Benon Mugisha.

Tuyizere enjoyed a successful spell with REG, helping the club win the 2022 league title under then-head coach Marchal Kwizigira, who now leads Gisagara VC.

His potential return would further strengthen REG's middle-blocker department. The club currently has Emmy Twagirayezu under contract for another season, while Ugandan middle blocker Sam Engwau is a free agent and could attract interest from several clubs.

Since joining Kepler VC in 2023, Tuyizere has established himself as one of the team's key players. Alongside stars such as Yves Mutabazi and Wicklif Dusenge, he helped Kepler reach the 2024/25 league final, where they finished runners-up after losing to APR VC.

Last season, Tuyizere again played an important role as Kepler secured a third-place finish and the bronze medal.
