The Buganda Kingdom Minister for Youth, Sports and Recreation, Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga, has called on young people across the kingdom to embrace hard work, self-reliance and community service while remaining committed to the vision and guidance of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Sserwanga made the remarks at Mumyuka Maanyi Sub-county headquarters during the official handover of the sub-county to the Kabaka's representative as part of activities marking the 33rd Coronation Anniversary of the Kabaka. The event was held under the kingdom initiative dubbed "Muvubuka Yoyoota Eggombolola Yo" (Youth, Beautify Your Sub-county), which encourages young people to actively participate in developing and preserving their communities.
Before the official ceremony, Sserwanga joined local leaders and youth in planting trees, highlighting environmental conservation as a key pillar of sustainable development.
"The Kabaka has consistently encouraged young people to work hard, protect the environment and transform the communities where they live. We must respond to that call through action, not words," Sserwanga said.

He urged the youth to utilise their talents, skills and energy to improve their livelihoods and contribute to Buganda's social and economic transformation.
"Every young person has a responsibility to uplift their community. Development begins where we live, and it is our duty to ensure our sub-counties become cleaner, greener and more productive," he added.
The Chairperson of Youth in Buganda Kingdom, Derrick Kavuma, commended the Kabaka for introducing initiatives that empower young people to directly participate in community development.
"We are grateful to His Majesty for entrusting us with this responsibility. We pledge to remain committed to his vision and ensure that the youth continue to serve Buganda with dedication and discipline," Kavuma said.
The Busujju County Chief, Israel Lubega Kasujju Maaso, described the programme as a practical expression of the Kingdom's "Federo y'Ebikolwa" philosophy, which promotes development through action rather than promises.
"This initiative reflects Buganda Kingdom's commitment to practical service. It encourages communities, especially young people, to take ownership of development projects that improve their areas," Lubega said.

The event also featured the swearing-in of newly elected Mumyuka Maanyi Sub-county Youth Committee members, who pledged to spearhead youth mobilisation, environmental conservation and community development initiatives in line with the Kingdom's programmes.
The "Muvubuka Yoyoota Eggombolola Yo" campaign is among several activities being implemented across Buganda as the Kingdom celebrates 33 years of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II's reign. The initiative seeks to inspire young people to champion environmental protection, volunteerism and sustainable development within their communities.
