Sulaiman Masimbi has been elected the new Local Council I (LC I) chairperson of Kyamabaale Village in Kisojjo Parish, Bukomansimbi District, after defeating Vincent Yiga Kagaali in a closely contested election.

Masimbi polled 128 votes against Kagaali's 115, winning the race by a margin of 13 votes.

The other two candidates, Dominic Ntege and Edward Owantamu, failed to attract any support, each receiving no votes.

The election was conducted peacefully, with residents voting using the lining-up method employed in the nationwide LC I elections.

Speaking after being declared winner, Masimbi thanked residents for the confidence they had placed in him and pledged to serve the entire community regardless of political differences.

"I sincerely thank the people of Kyamabaale for the confidence they have shown in me. I will work with every resident, regardless of who they supported, and ensure that our village experiences unity, development, and improved service delivery," Masimbi said.

Residents welcomed the peaceful conduct of the election and expressed hope that the new LC I chairperson would deliver on his campaign commitments and address the village's development priorities.

The Kyamabaale election was one of several LC I contests held across Bukomansimbi District as communities elected village leaders who will serve five-year terms.
