Government Chief Whip Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has summoned all members of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus to a meeting scheduled for Friday at the Kololo Ceremonial Independence Grounds.

In a notice dated August 5, 2026, and addressed to all caucus members, Aceng, who also chairs the caucus, said the meeting will begin at 12 noon.

"This is to notify and invite you for a Meeting of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus scheduled for Friday, 7th August 2026 starting at 12:00pm, at Kololo Ceremonial Independence Ground," the notice reads.

"Please endeavour to attend in person," Aceng added.

Ahead of the meeting, all caucus members have been directed to undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing at Conference Hall B in the Parliamentary Building.

The testing exercise began on Wednesday afternoon and will continue through Thursday between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

The invitation was copied to President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the National Chairperson of the NRM, Vice President Jessica Alupo, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong and the Director of the Office of the Leader of Government Business.

Although the notice does not specify the agenda, NRM parliamentary caucus meetings are traditionally used to harmonise the party's position on key government business before it is debated in Parliament.

The meeting comes as Parliament continues to consider several government bills and other matters of national importance expected to require a unified party position.

NRM legislators have been urged to prioritise attendance, as resolutions adopted by the caucus typically guide the ruling party's position during proceedings in the House.
