Morocco: Amman Ministerial Meeting On Supporting Al-Quds, Its Holy Sites Highlights Importance of Role of Al-Quds Committee Chaired By HM the King

Amman — The ministerial meeting on supporting Al-Quds and its holy sites, held on Wednesday in Amman in the presence of ministers from several Arab and Islamic countries, emphasized the importance of the role played by the Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee.

The communiqué issued at the close of this ministerial meeting highlighted "the importance of the role of the Al-Quds Committee and the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee," while reaffirming "support for the efforts undertaken by said Committee" to protect the Holy City and preserve its Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity.

The meeting was attended by member states of the Arab Ministerial Committee tasked with international action to counter illegal Israeli policies and measures in the city of Al-Qods--including Morocco, as well as Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Qatar, Tunisia, Iraq, Somalia, and Algeria--along with the Secretary-General of the Arab League, alongside Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia.

In her address, the Palestinian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Varsen Aghabekian, praised the efforts of the Committee and Morocco in supporting the Holy City and the resilience of the residents of Jerusalem, calling for strengthened efforts to counter Israeli measures in Al-Quds.

During the meeting, the participating ministers underscored the importance of working toward the sustainability of joint action and adopting a unified position to confront illegal Israeli policies that constitute a violation of international law and undermine the foundations of peace.

They insisted on the imperative of preserving the historical and legal status of Al-Quds and the Islamic and Christian holy sites within the Holy City, and of rejecting all practices likely to compromise this status.

Morocco was represented at this ministerial meeting by a delegation led by Abdelatif Ouahbi, Minister of Justice, and composed of Fouad Akhrif, His Majesty the King's Ambassador in Amman, as well as Khalid Bencheikh, Director of Maghreb, Arab, and Islamic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates.
