New York — Morocco's ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Omar Hilale, hosted a lavish reception on Thursday at the Kingdom's Residence in New York to mark the 27th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the Throne of His Glorious Ancestors.
The reception was attended by ambassadors and diplomats from UN member states, senior officials from the UN Secretariat, representatives of the press accredited to the UN, business leaders, and members of the Moroccan community living in the New York area.
It was notably marked by the presence of Vanessa Frazier, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict; Elizabeth Spehar, Assistant SG for Peacebuilding Support; Izumi Nakamitsu, High Representative for Disarmament Affairs; Chaloka Beyani, Special Adviser to the SG on the Prevention of Genocide; and Najat Maalla M'jid, Special Representative of the SG on Violence against Children.
The reception was also attended by Amandeep Singh Gill, Under-Secretary-General and UN Envoy on Technology; Claudia Fuentes Julio, Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights; and Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, former President of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly.

On this occasion, the guests acknowledged the prominent position Morocco now holds among nations, thanks to the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
They particularly commended the Kingdom's diplomatic influence as a staunch advocate for African causes - notably in the areas of sustainable development, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, South-South and triangular cooperation, and the promotion of human rights.
They expressed to ambassador Hilale their profound esteem and admiration for His Majesty the King, as well as for the all-out development momentum the Kingdom is experiencing under the Sovereign's enlightened leadership.
They also asked him to convey their warm congratulations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the entire Moroccan people on the occasion of this joyous celebration.
