Maputo — Mozambican Prime Minister, Benvinda Levi, on Monday held high-level diplomatic talks in Belgrade to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand Mozambique's international partnerships.
The engagements took place on the sidelines of the celebrations marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, a historic forum uniting nations from the Global South.
During her official agenda at the Palace of Serbia, Levi was received by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to review matters of mutual interest. She also held a working meeting with her Serbian counterpart, Ðuro Macut, focused on deepening economic, political, and cultural cooperation between Maputo and Belgrade.
Expanding Mozambique's diplomatic reach during the summit, the Levi also met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, to discuss parliamentary exchange and bilateral ties.

Outside the formal protocol, Levi set aside time to meet with a delegation of Mozambican students currently residing and studying in Serbia. The interaction allowed the Prime Minister to listen to their academic experiences, address the day-to-day challenges of living abroad, and provide updates on Mozambique's current socio-economic landscape.
When asked by a student about potential fast-track mechanisms to facilitate job placement for returning state scholars, Levi stated that "holding an international degree does not grant automatic privileges or preferential access to public sector employment."
She noted that overseas graduates remain subject to the same competitive civil service recruitment procedures applied to candidates trained at domestic universities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that a student's primary competitive edge should stem from academic excellence, dedication, and practical skills acquired during their studies. She called on the youth to view their scholarships not merely as personal achievements, but as a commitment to national development.
