Mochudi — As part of the Independence build-up activities, community members in Mochudi came together on September 11 for a community clean-up programme aimed at keeping the village clean and promoting environmental responsibility.
The clean-up brought together members of the community, including district authorities and community leaders including Bakgatla Deputy Chief, Kgosi Bana Sekai.
Kgosi Sekai, who participated in the initiative, encouraged people to take responsibility for maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
Kgosi Sekai thanked the community for showing up for the initiative because they had been doing this for some time.
He also urged them to continue doing so, so that they could celebrate the Independence Day in a clean environment.
Kgatleng Deputy District Commissioner, Mr Phenyo Nthaga said President Advocate Duma Boko instituted a nationwide clean campaign aimed at keeping the environment clean and to rehabilitate public spaces every second week of every month.
"Though the primary reason for this initiative is to prepare the Kgatleng environment for Independence Day, we hope it continues even after the independence" Mr Nthaga said.
