Uganda: Sheikh Swidiq Ndawula Urges New Thanawi Graduates to Advance Islamic Studies

29 September 2026

Sheikh Swidiq Ndawula has congratulated new Thanawi graduates from various recognized Islamic institutions, including Bilal Kakiri and Bilal Bwaise.

Delivering his weekly Darasa at Masjid Aldina Namayiba, Sheikh Swidiq advised the graduates to continue to the next level of studies in order to address the shortage of Sheikhs and Sheikhats to propagate Islam.

He urged the graduates not to entirely depend on scholarships from Saudi Arabia, but to consider joining the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) in the Religious Studies department, noting that it is more reliable than waiting for scholarships they are not sure of.

Sheikh Swidiq further cautioned parents and guardians to encourage students to continue with their theological education, citing the high competition in the job market from other disciplines.
