Police in Kasese are investigating the murder of a 45-year-old primary school teacher who was allegedly attacked and struck on the forehead by three unidentified men in Kisinga Town Council.
The deceased has been identified as Benjamin Kule Mayani, a resident of Kasokero Village in Kyondo Sub-county and a teacher at Excellent Nursery and Primary School.
According to police, the incident occurred at around midnight on September 29, 2026, in Karambi Cell, Kisinga Town Council, as Mayani and his colleague, identified as Pascal Muhindo, were returning from Kisinga Town.
The two were reportedly attacked by three unidentified men who allegedly struck Mayani on the forehead with a blunt object.

Mayani sustained serious injuries and collapsed a few metres from the scene of the attack. He later died from his injuries.
His colleague, Muhindo, reportedly managed to escape and raised an alarm, prompting nearby residents to respond. However, by the time they arrived, Mayani had already succumbed to his injuries.
The incident was reported to Kisinga Police Station, where investigations were immediately launched.
Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Maate Elly said detectives examined and documented the scene, while a police canine was deployed to assist in tracing possible leads.
"The scene of crime was examined and documented, the canine introduced to the crime scene, statements obtained from relevant witnesses, and relevant exhibits recovered from the scene for forensic analysis," Maate said.
Mayani's body was conveyed to Bwera Hospital for a postmortem examination as police continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify the suspects.
Police have appealed to members of the public with information that could help identify the attackers to come forward and assist with the investigation.
Maate said investigations are ongoing and that security agencies are pursuing leads that could result in the arrest of those responsible.
