Kenya: Banda Homes Creditors Set for Fresh Meeting in Four-Year-Old Insolvency Case

28 October 2026

Nairobi — Creditors of Banda Homes Limited are set to meet the company's liquidator next month as the property firm's insolvency case, filed in 2021, remains before the High Court in Nairobi.

A notice published in the Kenya Gazette has scheduled a virtual creditors' meeting for November 17, 2026, from 11am to 12.30pm, following a request by liquidator Waithaka Ngaruiya.

The meeting marks another step in the administration of the company's affairs under liquidation, with creditors' claims and the handling of any available assets central to the insolvency process.

"A creditors' meeting has been requested to be held by the liquidator," the notice states.

"The meeting of creditors of the aforementioned company will be held virtually on the 17th November, 2026, between 11.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.."

It does not, however, disclose the amount owed to creditors, the value of the company's assets or the potential recovery available to those with claims against the firm.

Under Kenya's Insolvency Act, liquidation involves identifying and realising a company's assets, determining valid creditor claims and distributing available proceeds according to the statutory order of priority.

The process determines whether creditors can recover some or all of the money owed to them, depending on the company's assets, liabilities and the ranking of their claims.

Ngaruiya was appointed liquidator under Section 439 of the Insolvency Act, according to the notice, which confirms that the meeting was requested by the liquidator.

The November 17 meeting will give creditors an opportunity to engage with the liquidator on the proceedings, although the published notice does not specify the agenda or indicate whether a distribution to creditors is imminent.
