Kenya: KPC Foils Attempt to Siphon Fuel From Mombasa Pipeline

3 November 2026

Nairobi — The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) has foiled an attempt to steal petroleum products through an illegal connection on a pipeline linking two pumping stations in Mombasa County.

KPC said its security and maintenance teams discovered the illegal connection on Monday, November 2, along the line connecting Pumping Station 14 to Pumping Station 15 during routine surveillance.

The company said its officers secured the site and reported the incident to Chaani Police Station.

KPC General Manager for Human Resource and Administration Dinah Kirwa said the attempted theft was stopped before any petroleum products were lost.

"Our officers have successfully managed to foil a criminal act which is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities," Kirwa said.

The company said it uses security surveillance, leak detection and other monitoring systems to protect its 1,342-kilometre pipeline network across the country.
