North Darfur Villages Deserted After Clashes

A joint United Nations-African Union fact-finding mission to several villages in North Darfur where fighting occurred earlier this month between Sudanese government forces and rebels has found them almost entirely deserted.

The town of Sam Ouandja is home to more than 3,000 refugees from the western Sudanese region of Darfur.
