Uganda: Top Scientist Probes Nodding Disease Mystery

Dr. Scott Dowell, a U.S. scientist leading the probe on nodding disease, says  two strong leads being followed are the connection to the river blindness (onchocerciasis) and low serum concentration.

 

A 12-year-old girl suffering from the disease is tied to a tree for 13 hours every day and kept from her siblings.
