Weighing the Cost of Ebola in Africa

Africa is experiencing its worst outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) since the disease appeared in 1976. West Africa - the epicentre - is experiencing its first outbreak, which began in March 2014. Beyond the terrible toll on lives and suffering, the epidemic is already having a measurable economic impact. A new UNECA study looks at the outbreak's impacts - qualitative and quantitative - endeavouring to grasp the interrelations among them.
