Africa Progress Panel Calls for Ten-Fold Boost in Power

Africa can boost its capacity to generate power - and, as a result, economic growth and jobs - without precipitating catastrophic climate change, Kofi Annan has argued in an introduction to the annual report of the Africa Progress Panel.

Graça Machel launches a new report which says that Africa has the chance to leapfrog over old ways of generating power and to bring power to all Africans using new climate-friendly technologies.

The Africa Progress Panel shows how stopping the illicit flow of money from Africa could finance adequate electricity for the whole continent by 2030.
