Nigeria-U.S. Ties 'Reset' as Buhari Visits Obama

Welcoming Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari to Washington on Monday, President Barack Obama commended the new leader's efforts to restore "safety, security and peace." Buhari was also hosted for breakfast by Vice President Joe Biden at talks covering fighting terrorism and expanding economic ties. Richard Joseph, a leading expert on U.S.-Africa relations, discusses the significance of Monday's talks. In a Washington Post article, the Nigerian leader urged patience, saying "reforming my country after so many years of abuse cannot be achieved overnight."
