South African Police Action During #NationalShutDown Questioned
Videos like this one recorded by News24 show protesters sitting down and singing before the police used a water cannon and fired stun grenades into the demonstrators are the University of the Western Cape. Reports are that the protesters at Parliament were treated in the same way, and it has sparked a request for the Western Cape Police Ombudsman to investigate. Protesters are now planning to march to the Union Buildings, as President Jacob Zuma prepares to speak with the leaders of the campaign.
