Ethiopia Faces Ticking Clock as Food Aid Deadline Nears

Emergency food aid for 10 million Ethiopians hit by the worst drought in 50 years will run out in April unless donors provide more funds by the end of February, according to Save the Children. Donors have already borrowed 220,000 metric tons from the country's strategic grain reserve to meet emergency needs.The government has pledged to use as many resources as needed to avert famine and has asked donors to assist.

More than 400,000 Ethiopian children under five could suffer from severe malnutrition this year as a result of the worst drought the country has suffered in 50 years.These young students in class are in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
