'Fragile Contexts' - Replenishing the African Development Fund

The African Development Fund (ADF) enables the African Development Bank to continue to financially assist the most fragile of its 54 regional member countries who need the most help. The ADF is also the largest Africa-based source of concessional, long-term development financing for individual countries. The ongoing ADF-14--the14th replenishment of the African Development Fund--are negotiations to mobilize and prioritize resources to be used for funding over the next three years 2017-2019. More on the AfDB in this BRIEFING

Established in 1972 and operational in 1974, the African Development Fund (ADF) is a multilateral source of concessional assistance dedicated exclusively to the needs of Africa's least developed and most vulnerable countries. Together, the African Development Fund, the African Development Bank and the Nigeria Trust Fund comprise the African Development Bank Group. The ADF is the largest source of development finance solely devoted to clients in Africa.
