Desmond Tutu Celebrates 85th Birthday Presiding at Eucharist

Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu began in a day-long celebration of his 85th birthday by presiding over a Eucharist service at Cape Town's St. Georges Cathedral. Later, he attended the Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture, presented this year by Pakistani human rights lawyer Hina Jilani, a member of The Elders, whichTutu helped to found in 2007. In an opinion piece published by The Washington Post, Tutu said he endorsed assisted death "to help give people dignity in dying."
