Veteran Namibian Leader Hamutenya Receives 'Hero's Burial'

Former Namibian Foreign Minister Hidipo Hamutenya, who died last week at age 77, will receive a state funeral. Hamutenya represented the Namibian liberation movement Swapo around the world and, after independence in 1990, served as a Cabinet minister until 2004, when he lost a bid to become the party's presidential nominee. He formed the opposition Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) in 2007 and returned to Swapo last year at the urging of newly elected President Hage Geingob.
