South African Finance Minister Summoned to Face Charges in Court

The head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Shaun Abrahams has announced that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan was summoned to answer for his role while Commissioner at the South African Revenue Services (Sars). On Tuesday morning, Abrahams read a statement on the so-called rogue unit. Gordhan is expected to appear in court in November on charges, including one of fraud of more than R1-million for a pension paid to former former Sars deputy commissioner Ivan Pillay.
