South African Minister Welcomes Traffic System Court Ruling

The Constitutional Court has ruled that private company Tasima relinquish control of the Electronic National Administration Traffic Information System (eNatis), which processes vehicle licensing, driver's licences and the retention of that data, to the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC). The ruling comes after a decade-long legal dispute between the two parties. Tasima has managed the system for fifteen years but their contract was unlawfully extended in 2009, prompting the legal action by the Transport Department and RTMC.
