South African Bank Probed Over Apartheid Bailout

A leaked provisional report by Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane has recommended that Absa Bank pay the government R2.25-billion for an unlawful apartheid-era bailout of Bankorp, which was acquired in 1992 and received assistance from the South African Reserve Bank.
