Feed Africa Discourse Heads to India, Cradle of Green Revolution

India's Green Revolution is known to have been prompted by the 1943 Bengal famine. The country revolutionized traditional food production practices and now produces enough food to feed its 1.3 billion people with surplus for export. Hence, India offers the perfect backdrop for the 2017 Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, which is focused on the theme, "Transforming Agriculture for Wealth Creation in Africa" and the Bank's "Feed Africa: Strategy for Agricultural Transformation in Africa, 2016-2025." Held from May 22-26 in Ahmedabad, India, the central theme of the 2017 African Development Bank's Annual Meetings will be "Transforming Agriculture for Wealth Creation in Africa. The theme underscores the critical importance of agriculture in the Bank's work in particular and in Africa in general, while providing India, the cradle of the "Green Revolution," a good opportunity to share its experiences with thousands of participants who will attend the Bank's foremost annual gathering.
