South African Police Escape Charges Over Marikana Shooting

Police Investigation Directorate chief Robert McBride has expressed shock after 87 officers were cleared of charges relating to the deaths of of 34 miners who died during the 2012 Marikana shooting, saying: "It's strange they were all cleared, as so many people died."
