Bird Flu - Africa Remains On High Alert

An outbreak of avian influenza virus, commonly known as bird flu, in southern African countries is raising concerns that the disease, already entrenched in most parts of Africa, might advance and devastate the poultry industry. According to health experts, exposure to bird flu can lead to fatal complications such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and multiple organ failure.
