South African Communist Party Threatens to Quit Govt Alliance

The South African Communist Party has re-elected Blade Nzimande as its General Secretary, while the party's deputy Jeremy Cronin, will not be standing for re-election. This follows a stern warning by Cronin on the influence the Gupta family - are implicated in the former public protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture Report - has had on governance and the economy. The party has also threatened to leave the alliance it has with the ruling African National Congress.
