South Africa's Ex-Broadcast Boss Fails to Appear at Labour Court
Hlaudi Motsoeneng, the South African Broadcasting Corporation's former chief operating officer was dismissed after months of legal battles in and outside of court, following allegations that he had targeted, suspended and fired journalists who were later reinstated, that he banned reporting on service delivery protests, that he lied about his qualifications and was responsible for the mismanagment of funds at the corporation.
