Bled Dry - Zimbabwe Govt Acts Against National Blood Service

The cost of blood has been lowered from U.S.$100 a pint to U.S.$80 in a move that is set to improve the dire situation faced by patients, especially pregnant women who require the life-saving commodity, health minister David Parirenyatwa has said. Earlier a report exposed serious abuse of funds by National Blood Service Zimbabwe executives, which included loans of over 200% of employees' basic salaries.
