Maikanti Baru, the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation was named the winner of the Forbes Best of Africa Oil and Gas Man of the Year 2017 Award. Forbes says it followed with keen interest Baru's rising profile and impressive career path through the years. Whether the shine will be taken off the award pending the investigation on allegations of corruption and other wrongdoing against Baru remains to be seen.
