#Winnie Madikizela-Mandela - Praisers, Defenders, Accusers

The late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, social worker, political activist and former wife of the late statesman Nelson Mandela, was admired by many for her role in keeping Nelson Mandela's 27-year imprisonment in the public consciousness internationally and nationally, while suffering at the hands of authorities who detained and banished her from her family and friends for many years. While her detractors refer back to her chequered political past where she encouraged the burning of political opponents and when teen activist Stompie Seipei was murdered by the Mandela football club she ran in Soweto.
