Uganda Revenue Authority 'Trying to Catch Rich Tax Cheats'

The Uganda Revenue Authority's attempt to force commercial banks to reveal all clients' private accounts information was part of an effort to drag politicians, businessmen and the very rich into the income tax net, sources have told The Observer. The URA wrote to all Ugandan banking institutions last month, asking them to release demographic and financial information on all accounts in the years 2016 and 2017.
