How Winnie Snuck a Grandchild Onto Robben Island for Mandela

"She was a very brave and tough woman. She knew it was against the rules, but she still kept to her convictions ... We had no idea she had the baby ... Now you have to understand, rules were extremely strict for inmates and no babies were allowed on the island at all. Yet she brought the baby." In an interview with News24, former Robben Island Prison guard Christo Brand has described the bond shared between Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and former president Nelson Mandela during his incarceration.
