A Test for Namibia Media Freedom as Newspaper Gag Order Looms

The Namibia Media Trust has said it condemns an attempt by the Namibia Central Intelligence Service to silence and censor local media.The NCIS boss Philemon Malima, reportedly brought an urgent High Court application against the Patriot newspaper and its editor Mathias Haufiku, to stop the publishing of  a story on an association of former members of the NCIS and the purchase of certain properties. The case will be heard next week and the Patriot has withheld the report, pending the court ruling.
