Low Voter Registration Turnout A Cause For Concern in Mozambique

There can be no extension of the registration period which closes on May 17, elections chief Sheik Abdul Carimo Sal has said, despite concerns over the low registration turnout. After five weeks of registration, only 49% of the estimated 8.1 million potential voters eligible to register have done so, ahead of municipal elections scheduled for October 10.
