Villagers Demand Right to Forbid Titanuim Mining
The Amadiba Crisis Committee has long battled to prevent Transworld Energy and Mineral Resources from getting rights to mine titanium in Xolobeni, a village in Umgungundlovu on the Wild Coast. Members of the community asked the Pretoria High Court to rule that the South African Department of Mineral Resources not issue a mining license without the community's consent.
