Villagers Demand Right to Forbid Titanuim Mining

The Amadiba Crisis Committee has long battled to prevent Transworld Energy and Mineral Resources from getting rights to mine titanium in Xolobeni, a village in Umgungundlovu on the Wild Coast. Members of the community asked the Pretoria High Court to rule that the South African Department of Mineral Resources not issue a mining license without the community's consent.

About 200 people from mining communities across the country picketed outside the Pretoria High Court on Tuesday in support of the Right To Say No to Mining Campaign.
