Sepsis Leading Cause of Death in Newborns In Tanzania - Study
The rate of sepsis among newborns in Dar es Salaam hospitals is estimated between 25% and 30 % and is among the leading causes of death in newborns countrywide . These deaths occur in unsafe birth environments, where there is little access to water, sanitation and good hygiene, says a statement issued by WaterAid Tanzania, Simavi, and the National Institute for Medical Research.
The initiative aims to improve maternal and newborn care in the Kigoma region, where figures have shown that only 47% of women give birth at healthcare facilities. Read more »
