Nigerian Senate Opposes Call for Suspension of Anti-Grazing Law

The Senate has criticized the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali, over his call that state laws which prohibit open grazing should be suspended. The minister said that the suspension would reduce the tension in troubled states. The anti-open grazing law is currently operational in Benue, Ekiti and Taraba states. The states implemented the law to stop clashes between farmers and herdsmen which caused bloodshed and left thousands homeless.
