ANC MP Manana Resigns, Dodges Assault Hearing

Democratic Alliance Chief Whip John Steenhuisen has said that Mduduzi Manana's voluntary resignation from Parliament was nothing more than a move to evade an appearance before Parliament's Joint Committee on Ethics and Members' Interests. Manana was convicted of three counts of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm in September 2017 after he attacked three women outside a nightclub in Fourways, Johannesburg.
