Why First Elections After Mugabe Ouster Are So Significant

Tension continues to rise between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his main rival Nelson Chamisa, with threats and counter-threats being exchanged between the presidential contenders as the July 30 election nears. A record 23 presidential candidates have been successfully nominated to run for president, while more than 100 parties have shown interest, the largest number since the country gained independence - but even if the run-up to the polls remain peaceful, the opposition have already said they won't accept defeat.
