South African Apartheid-Era Ministers Were Paedophiles - New Book

Three former National Party ministers have been named in a new book as central figures in a paedophilia ring that operated during the apartheid era, News24 reports.

The book - The Lost Boys of Bird Island - says investigations into Magnus Malan, former apartheid minister of defence, as well as John Wiley, minister of environmental affairs, and another minister were halted by the police and the investigating officer hounded from service in the 1980s.

The third man was considered a possible successor to then president PW Botha and is still alive but is not named based on legal advice.

The book is by journalist Chris Steyn and former undercover narcotics agent Mark Anthony Dawid Minnie.
