Muhammed Kirumira, a former Buyende District Police Commander, has been gunned down by unknown assailants. President Yoweri Museveni visited the scene of the shooting and urged witnesses to come forward. It is the second high profile killing that has occurred in the country this year. Kiruimira, who resigned from the police force earlier this year, was arrested on corruption and torture charges, which were later dropped.
