Outgoing UK Envoy Hints Zimbabwe Election May Not Have Been Fair

As outgoing British ambassador to Zimbabwe Catriona Laing bade farewell to acting President Kembo Mohadi, she made several statements: she hinted that the playing fields may not have been equal in the Zimbabwean election; she said sanctions on Zimbabwe were imposed by the European bloc rather than the UK itself - and she said Britain was supportive of the country's efforts to join the Commonwealth.
